Relaxed Look at the Sundial Bridge

Good morning dear reader! Hope you had a good productive week and are ready for a little weekend relaxation. I definitely am, even though one day this week I used a floating holiday and we went for a short drive to the Sundial Bridge.

I’ve been here before but I am totally amazed at the innovation of man every time I see it. Actually a working sundial it spans 710 feet across the Sacramento River and reaches 217 feet into the sky. Surrounding it are all kinds of hiking trails, a botanical garden, and the Turtle Bay Exploration Park that has all kinds of educational and fun displays that are ever changing throughout the year. Of course I still wanted to look stylish and be warm so I wore a black rib-knit v-neck sweater with a classic white shirt underneath and my dark jeans and black booties.

The sweater is 50% off right now at Old Navy, comes in four other colors and sizes XS to XXL. It has a high low hem and side slits with rib knit detail on the collar, hem and cuffs.

Underneath I wore a classic white shirt also from Old Navy just for a little extra warmth even though it actually turned out to be a beautiful warm day.

These Everflex skinnies from Maurices have quickly become my go to jeans. They have a high rise waist and are so soft and stretchy. They don’t bag out like some jeans do and are such an affordable price. Right now you can buy one get one 50% off and Maurices carries them in regular and plus sizes.

My booties are from Glamour Farms and are no longer available but I think these peep toe booties are really cute. I’ve ordered several pairs of their booties and shoes and they have all been great quality.

If you enjoy nature, the Exploration Park is definitely a fun place to visit. Aquatic adventures, a parrot playhouse, and all kinds of animals, including a striped skunk (with it’s scent glands removed of course) that have been rescued and are non-releasable. just to name a few of their attractions. We have a great time and learn something new every time we go!

What I’m Wearing to a Fall Wedding!

Happy Friday everyone!! Sorry for the late post this morning. My internet has been in and out since last night. It drives me nuts ha ha. And, then I realized my husband still had my atm card so on my way into town to finish this post I ran out of gas and my step-dad came to my rescue. What a morning, but I’m back on track now and ready to face the day and so thankful it’s Friday!! Does anyone else ever face these crazy circumstances? Life is definitely a ride sometimes:)

This time of year love is in the air! Fall weddings are some of my favorite to attend. Of course, I’m partial because September is my anniversary month. My husband’s boss is getting married this month to the love of his life and I’m excited that my whole family has been invited. It’s sure to be a fun time. I tend to take the semi-formal approach when shopping for a wedding guest dress unless the invitation says black and white attire required. Even then I never want it to look like I’m part of the wedding entourage yet I still want to feel pretty and confident especially when going out with my husband.

I chose this Ralph Lauren cap sleeve wrap dress. It’s not available in the exact color I’m wearing but this pretty navy color is available in sizes 0 through 18 and comes in petite sizing too.

Wrap dresses are universally flattering and the length is what caught my attention in the store. I love figure hugging dresses while still being movable and not skin tight.

These d’orsay wedges in this pretty leopard print had just the right amount of edginess I love and since leopard is a neutral they were the perfect match. The heel is low and they are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in. They have a padded footbed and the pointy toe helps to elongate your leg. Use code SAVENOW at checkout for extra savings.

The wedding is taking place in this pretty clubhouse in the countryside. I love that this dress and shoe combination are great if you’d like to go for a walk to take in the beauty of nature. The material has a stretch to it and I wore my shapewear underneath for a smooth appearance.

The cap sleeves have a few ruffles to make them girly and they fall in the most flattering way.

I love a wrap dress to give structure to your waistline. Paired with the knee length, I think it makes for a very hourglass silhouette.

If you are going to be attending a fall wedding, I would highly recommend this dress. If you’re tall, short, petite or plus size, this dress would look amazing on you:)

To keep the focus on my dress and shoes, I chose simple jewelry of gold tassle earrings and a gold bracelet. My exact earrings are sold out but I love these and these. I love a smoky eye for an evening or late afternoon wedding. I chose a blue smoky eye using these colors, Mary Kay candlelight shimmer, Mary Kay sand castle matte and Mary Kay navy matte. I paired them with this Mary Kay steely eyeliner. The cc cream I’m wearing is going to be part of my week 5 skincare series. It’s paraben and phthalate free with spf 15. I’m in love ha ha. It has just the right amount of coverage with enough moisturizing creaminess to keep our skin looking healthy and picture ready:) which is a big plus at weddings because many pictures will be taken. I always take advantage of getting some pics of my whole family during this time. They make great Christmas cards which is fast approaching. I love Thanksgiving though as I love to eat and am so thankful for all I’ve been given.

Speaking of being grateful, we here at Sizable Fashion are extremely thankful for all of you!! Have an amazing, restful weekend and if you are interested please enter your email below as we’d love for you to join our community here.

Staying on Trend Comfortably

Good morning and happy Thursday! You may have heard that there are massive power outages here in California as our state’s largest power company, Pacific Gas & Electric, is trying to avoid wildfire risk. Before dawn yesterday they flipped the electricity switch off across 20 counties and more shutoffs are possibly scheduled for today effecting more than 2 million people. Stiff dry winds had been forecast and last year’s heavy winter rains followed by extreme dryness and summer heat have created dangerous amounts of natural fuel. Winds can bring down lines, sparking wildfires that are nearly impossible to contain and after being blamed last year for the deadliest fire in California’s history, PG&E is taking this extreme precaution.

My heart goes out to anyone who is without electricity this morning and I hope you were able to get the needed supplies to ride this out! We have a generator at work so it’s business as usual for us.

Today I’m styling what could be work wear or even a fun night out with friends, plaid ultra stretch skinny pants from Kohl’s with this twist front top from Macy’s.

These Simply Vera Luxury Ultra Stretch skinny pants are so comfortable! They come in 7 other prints, XS to XXL and are buy one get one 1/2 off right now. They pull on, have faux pockets and are a high rise that sits at the waist. You can get them in short, average and tall lengths too.

This INC twist front button up top from Macy’s is a little different for me. I rarely wear black but I thought maybe with my silver hair I could try it. I really like the twist front detail and it can be dressed up with these stretch pants and dressier shoes or would look equally stylish with a pair of jeans and loafers. It does come in 6 other colors if black isn’t your taste.

I thought this Vera Wang snake print satchel I found at Kohl’s would add a fun element and snake print is really on trend right now. It’s 20% off right now with code AGAIN20. It has a lot of compartments and at this price point is great quality.

I always like a purse that has long enough handles that I can throw is over my shoulder so both hands are free.

I think it’s important to add trending items to our wardrobe to stay looking current but still stay within our own comfort zone too. The subtle plaid print of these stretch pants and the snake print accent of the satchel are a fun statement without being too over the top for me.

How about you? Do you like to add trends to your wardrobe each season? I’d love to hear what fun things you’ve added if you would leave me a comment. Part 4, Natural Skincare Series:)

Good morning everyone, we made it through half the week already! Can you tell I’m excited for the weekend:) Today is part 4 of my natural personal skincare series and we are talking about night time nourishment for our skin while we sleep. Getting a good night’s sleep is essential to achieve healthy and glowing skin. As we start to age it’s good to give our skin a natural boost to help with the process our bodies go through while we sleep.

I am enjoying this TimeWise repair night treatment with retinol and this mask.

Both of these products are paraben, phthalate and fragrance free except the Burt’s Bees mask contains natural fragrance which I love. A lot of manufacturers will try to slip things in your products under the term fragrance so it is very important to read the labels and make sure it says natural fragrance such as lavender, citral or limonene. Both the night cream and mask are also ethylene brassylate free. The Burt’s Bees overnight mask is 99% all natural, with only a touch of sodium benzoate, yay!

They are both very affordable and get great reviews. Retinol A is great for our skin to help with the aging process but sun exposure should be limited when using it so it’s the perfect compliment for our face as we sleep. It’s the purest form of vitamin A and Mary Kay has formulated the perfect amount in this night time treatment cream so that our bodies absorb it slowly for maximum benefits. The Burt’s Bees mask may be used when needed. I use it once a week but it’s completely safe to use as much as you wish and it’s great for hands too. Dry hands also make us look older so it’s important to keep them moisturized. It also contains avocado oil & prebiotics.

Both the Mary Kay Naturally skincare line along with this TimeWise repair night treatment with retinol and these Burt’s Bees products are a fraction of the cost of other natural cosmetics such as Beautycounter or Rodan + Fields. There is no minimum order ever or monthly subscription service fees. You can purchase it based on your needs, which I love, so it fits in my budget and I still get the benefits of safe natural products inside and out, wrinkles be gone ha ha. If you’re interested in viewing this short video, I’d love to have you join me as I share how I use these products.

We are so glad you have taken time out of your day to join us here. If you’re interested in getting our emails in your inbox daily, please just enter your email below. Have a great day and if you have any issues with dry skin heading into these winter months just comment below and we can adjust your current skin care accordingly:)

Plaid Tweed Skirt & Turtleneck for the Office

Good morning sweet reader! It’s a beautiful sunny and warm fall morning here in the northern California mountains and another work week is underway. There’s a lot to be said for a good steady dependable job but the day in and day out routine is definitely more pleasant when you feel cute and put together in what you’re wearing.

This Calvin Klein plaid tweed skirt and super soft turtleneck sweater definitely check all the boxes for me.

Tweed always says professional and chic to me and especially so in this pencil skirt from Calvin Klein. The faux-wrap detail overlaps in the front and it has a metallic toggle to keep it on the contemporary side. There is a matching blazer available if a full suit is more to your liking, and they both come in sizes 0 to 16.

I chose to pair it with this super soft Calvin Klein turtleneck sweater. It’s figure flattering and warm enough for the cooler days ahead.

The length of the skirt is right above the knee which is where I like my skirts to hit. Flattering but still office appropriate.

For accessories I’m wearing a simple Infinity Pendant necklace I found at Kohl’s along with knot stud earrings.

I found these adorable heels at JC Penny’s. They are no longer available but these are really similar. I think they add just the right touch of femininity to a professional look.

Alright, enough soaking up this gorgeous sunshine, it’s time to head inside and get to work. At least I’ll be feeling good and confident and that always make my workday better!

I hope you are feeling good and confident today in what you’re wearing and have a wonderful Tuesday, whatever plans you have!

Pumpkin Patch Fun!

Happy Monday morning, hope everyone had a restful weekend and are refreshed to face this brand new week. Time sure is flying:) This last Saturday I went with my mom and daughter to our local pumpkin patch. It was so much fun.

When I’m trudging along looking for the perfect pumpkins, I like to look put together but comfortable at the same time. I also want to wear something that will wash well if I get a little dirt on my boots as they sing ha ha. I wore a simple outfit of embellished black skinny jeans, a longer white tank top and a simple pink cardigan. My exact jeans are no longer available but I love these and these from Macy’s. The leggings come in sizes xs-xxl and have great reviews for comfort and wash & wear. With a cute longer sweater, I think they would be perfect.

These from New York & Co are very cute too. They come in sizes 0 through 18 and the simple cheetah detail is what drew me to them. It makes a fun on trend statement without going overboard. They have buy 1 get 1 50% off all new arrivals plus free shipping over $50.

I even found a new boyfriend at the pumpkin patch. Shh, don’t tell my husband:) My simple white tank top is from Kohl’s. I love the price, quality and length. I’ve had mine for a few months and it washes well. The neckline is good too, flattering yet it covers. It’s available in sizes xs-xxl.

Fun things for the kids to do is always a plus. My son still loves to see how tall he is. I always laugh because he will be 22 soon and I’m pretty sure he is full height. None the less, he likes to see and get his picture taken when we go every year.

My kids also love animals. I think we all just love to be outdoors.

I love that this tank top is long enough to show under my cardigan. It’s also long enough to wear with the cute leggings I linked to above.

I chose a simple pink cardigan but you could virtually wear any color of your choosing as long as it matched the embroidery in your jeans. I like this one and this one. Maurices has a buy 1 Get 1 50% off sweaters right now. The open front cable knit cardigan comes in 3 fall colors and sizes xs-xxl. Color blocking with a light gray on top with a darker gray on bottom would be flattering to your hip line along with the waterfall open front style. It’s $34 and available in sizes xs-xxl and comes in plus sizing as well.

I love to visit the little stores at the pumpkin patch. They always have a lot of goodies to eat and we found some cute fall decor. Plus, I love the pumpkin cookies and spice lattes.

I took this picture while waiting on my mom and daughter while they were taking the pumpkin wagon back. I wore my cross heart necklace that my daughter got me last Christmas and some simple small diamond studs. I’m also enjoying my Mary Kay appleberry lipstick and lip gloss.

Does anyone have plans to visit their local pumpkin patch soon? We’d love to hear what you wear when you go there. I’m off to run some errands and hope you all have a great start to your week.

If you’d love to join us here at Sizable Fashion we’d love to have you!! Please just enter your email below and make sure to confirm. The system is kind of finicky about that and has to make sure it’s a valid email. Such is life in this tech world ha ha. Have an amazing day, Tamra!

Staying Charged Up

Have you ever picked up your cell phone intending to text someone or make a call and all you got was a black screen? Your phone was dead! No calls, texting, checking e-mails, etc. until your phone is connected to a charger.

Sometimes this can happen to us in our spiritual lives. We just feel out of energy, blah, like a blank screen. But we still have responsibilities and people who are depending on us.

I think this is what the Psalmist was feeling in Psalms 42:5 “Why are you in despair my soul? Why have your become disturbed within me?”

The Psalmist is describing his need for his spiritual battery to be charged. Thank goodness he doesn’t leave us there, he gives us the answer in the next verse. “Hope in God for I shall again praise Him, for the help of His presence.”

Just like we have to plug our phone into a power source, we need to plug us into the Lord. He is the ultimate power source and He loves to fill us with His Spirit and empower us so we can do the things we need to do.

If we just sit our dead phone by an electrical outlet nothing will happen. Not until there is a phone charger to connect them and allow the power to flow from the outlet. Prayer is like the cell phone charger. When we think about the goodness of God in our lives and then praise and thank Him for all He’s done for us, it energizes us!

When we just focus on how bad things are or how unfair life is, it will only drain us. Like Prov 17:22 says “But a broken spirit dries up the bones.”

Let’s remember to take time to charge ourselves spiritually just like we do our cell phones so we can be powered up all the time. Hope in the Lord and praise Him and He will fill us with life energy for our journey.

Hope you have a very blessed rest day!

Weekend Adventures

Happy Saturday friends! Soooo ready for the weekend! Today I’m actually going to head to our local pumpkin patch and get a sugar pumpkin to make a pie. I was told by my coworker, they’re smaller than carving pumpkins and firmer, making them better for pies according to her mom who made them all the time when she was growing up. I’ve talked about it for years now but this is the year I’m really going to do it. You can tune in to my story on Instagram and see how it’s goes.

It’s supposed to be in the 60’s and sunny so I’ve decided on this cozy warm cardigan from JC Penny’s. I’ve done a little pattern mixing with this short sleeved split neck top underneath.

I love the cable knit of this cardigan on the front, sleeves and it’s even carried onto the back. It’s a great bargain at the sale price with code GOSTYLE and comes in several different colors and sizes XS to XXL.

This split crew neck top has a really nice silky feel to it. I like the contrasting patterns and textures together. It’s 40% off with the same code GOSTYLE and comes in several different patterns too and sizes XS to XXL.

I’ve chosen comfy black jeans (similar here) and a simple pair of black bow ballet flats to complete my look. Both seemed good choices to trudge thru a pumpkin patch. Though I’ve never actually trudged through a pumpkin patch in all my 62 years so I guess I’ll find out, ha!

The cardigan also has pockets that are pretty deep, perfect for holding my cell phone while I’m picking out a pumpkin. I love this little longer length too for style and warmth to wrap up in if there’s a breeze which is pretty regular up here in our northern California mountain area this time of year.

Ok, I’m off to Papa’s Pumpkin Patch! I’m totally uncertain how this is going to go but that’s how adventures are right? No expectations of perfection, just exploring something new and out of your normal routine to see what’s out in our great big world around us. It’s important to try new things to keep us growing and learning!

How about you? What adventures have you been on lately? I’d love to hear if you’d care to share in the comments below. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! If you like what you’re seeing we’d really appreciate if you would share us with a friend or two.

Praise the Lord it’s Friday, Can I get an Amen!! What I wore to my son’s college concert:)

Skirt/Black Tights

Fall is the beginning of a lot of fun activities and performances. This truly is my favorite time of the year starting now till New Year’s. You can honestly feel the excitement in the air. Although my kids are now grown, I coordinate times and we all meet to pick out pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. One of our favorite items besides pumpkins is the pumpkin syrup. Then they always have to twist my arm ha ha and I make them french toast for dinner that day:)

October and November bring all the fall concerts. My son has been playing guitar since he was 10 so I’ve always enjoyed dressing up to watch his performances. He is now performing with many talented individuals at his college and the concerts are thoroughly enjoyable. I like to feel cute and modest. My exact shirt has sold out but I love this one from JC Penney. Both the striped and sundrop are cute patterns. It’s available in tall so if you like your shirts a little longer to cover the tummy area it would be perfect. I did a front tuck with mine. Use code GOSTYLE for a 20% savings. Or 25% off $100 and over order. This one from Express is a great option too. I love the ruffle around the collar and the buttons. It comes in sizes xxs-xl and is 30% off.

I would also wear this to a meeting with one of my clients during a makeup consultation. I’ve always loved Mary Kay’s motto. Not just the fact that she always said to put faith first, family second and then to work very hard third but the example she left us by her fashion choices. She always said to look professional, feminine and modest. I feel this outfit follows that to a tee.

I added black control top pantyhose and black booties for a slimming appearance. Of course, this girl needs a little sparkle on her booties but solid black would work just as well. The ones I’m wearing are no longer available but these are cute and I also like these. Vera Wang boots are always comfortable and offer the extra little pizazz I love. These Dr. Scholl’s are super cute and with a padded footbed and both medium and wide widths available they look to be a perfect option also. The exact brand I’m wearing is Madden at Kohl’s. The ones available come with this cute wooden heel making them great if you’re looking for something you can dress up or dress down for a more casual look.

Red is one of my favorite colors so I added this lightweight red cardigan for a pop of color. Mine is sold out but I love this one from Kohl’s. The detail at the top is pretty and the vertical detail on the back would be slimming. I also like that it’s a bit brighter red. It’s an otherwise neutral outfit and although I love black and white it’s not the best near my face. I am a cool winter in my natural coloring so a bit of color brings out the pink in my complexion which is more flattering. Makeup tip-pinch your cheeks and see what your natural color is. That is the color blush you should be using:) Rosy Nude is my color.

Take your pointer and middle finger and place them right beside your nose looking in a mirror. That is where your blush should start along your natural cheek bones. Your natural cheek color will always make you appear more youthful. If you see young children running around playing without a care in the world they usually have a flushed glow to their cheeks. Freckles are also in right now. So while we love a perfect matte complexion, don’t cover up those youthful freckles too much.

My black leather wrap bracelet with small crystal details along with my simple silver hoops with a sparkly sheen were the perfect accents. I love Alison + Aubrey for jewelry but I’m going shopping today with my mom and am going to try to find some pretty options to share with you all next week.

You could also choose red heels to bookend your red cardigan and still achieve that slimming look. The straps across your foot should be small and if you can cross them in a way that makes an X it will slim your leg. A pointed toe will also help with this.

This pair has a block heel that is fairly low and the toe isn’t too narrow making them comfortable. I love these and these. I love the scallop edging. Use code FRIENDS at checkout for savings.

What kind of outfits do you all like to wear to your children or grandchildren’s recitals and school festivities? Mom, my daughter and I are headed to the pumpkin patch this Saturday. We are picking out pumpkins for them to make homemade pumpkin pie, yummy! I am their taste tester as this girl usually burns everything ha ha. It’s a good thing I married a cook:)

If anyone’s interested in following along we will put our pumpkin patch experience on our Insta stories. It’s always a fun adventure with us girls. A lot of laughter in our house. We are very glad you’re here with us and you are welcome to leave your email below to never miss a post. We’d love to have you join us.

P.S. On Fridays we’ve been linking up with Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style. She’s very sweet and if you’re interested in joining her I know she’d love to have you:) https://www.nancysfashionstyle.com.

Red Print Dress in Fall

Good morning ladies! We’ve made it over the hump and are on the downhill side of another week. We’re having a reprieve from the cold weather here and it’s supposed to be in the mid 70’s again by the weekend! Though I love the change over to winter clothes with their cozy warm textures and styles I still find the cold challenging.

So while we still have some sun shine I’m going to wear this Maison Jules printed flutter-sleeve dress. I added a white NYDJ jean jacket because I liked the contrast of the white with the red print.

Macy’s has this dress marked down 60% right now and it comes in several different prints and sizes XXS to XXL. The skirt portion is lined so no slip is required but you can still wear one if that’s your preference.

I love the v-neck that’s not too revealing and it ties at the waist to give a most flattering shape. And the flutter sleeves are so feminine.

It also has hidden pockets on the sides. I’m 5’8″ and the length hits me just above my knees. I did tie it rather loosely though, if you tie it up tighter it does pull of the length so you can decide what suits you.

For the early morning chill I added this white jean jacket (no longer available but similar here). Though white is still acceptable after Labor Day these days, you could always add a blue jean jacket instead (option here and here, both of which are marked down considerably).

I chose to wear my nude block heel mesh booties today but I’ll switch them up for a nude closed toe bootie as the weather cools a bit more.

I really like the versatility of this dress. It’s perfect for work, church or even a granddaughter’s high school graduation in the summer months and by simply switching out shoes and adding a jean jacket I can wear it into the cooler fall months too.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your visit with us here at Sizable Fashion today and hope you’ll stop by again! You can receive our posts in your inbox every morning by following us, simply click on the link below. And if you like what you’re seeing please feel free to share us with a friend.
